Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky in a 75cl bottle, named after the whirlpool to the north of the island.
It has been part of the permanent Ardbeg range since 2008. It is matured in ex-bourbon and French oak casks, and is a blend of standard Ardbeg and Ardbeg aged in virgin French Limousin oak. The taste is deep, peaty and peppery.
The palate brings peppered steak and crisp seaweed, then black tarry espresso with dark fruits such as blackcurrants, blueberries and cherries, and bitter almonds. Star anise and hickory dry the mouth before a note of violets appears.
