A 16 year old Islay single malt from Ardbeg, distilled in 1990 and bottled by the distillery in 2006 at 46% ABV. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured in bourbon casks and was bottled without chill-filtration or added colouring. Airigh nam Beist is Gaelic for the beast's shelter, and the name belongs to Ardbeg's second water source. This bottling draws on whisky made after the distillery reopened.
The nose is dark peat with a strong sea breeze. The palate is full, with cereal and dry wood, then sweetness, dark almonds, walnuts and heavy smoke. The finish is long with strong wood smoke.
