Ardbeg – An Oa (70cl, 46.6%)

Ardbeg An Oa is an Islay malt whisky bottled at 46.6% in a 70cl bottle. It takes its name from the Mull of Oa, the rounded peninsula close to the distillery's home on the Kildalton coast. The whisky is matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, charred new casks and used bourbon casks, which are combined in a Gathering Vat before bottling. It first appeared in 2017, ten years after the previous addition to the Ardbeg core range, and shows a rounder side of the distillery while keeping its smoke. On the palate there is plenty of peat and smoke, with a little maple syrup and black chocolate.
