Ardbeg – Auriverdes 2014 (70cl, 49.9%)

Auriverdes is a limited Islay single malt from Ardbeg, released in 2014 and bottled at 49.9% in a 70cl bottle. The name joins 'auri', for the gold colour of the whisky, and 'verde', for the green glass bottle. It was made to mark the 2014 football World Cup in Brazil, as Auriverdes is also a nickname of the Brazilian national teams. The nose is lightly tarry, with herbs and mocha. On the palate come ground coffee, vanilla, smoked ham and a little liquorice. The finish carries a smoky vanilla note.
