Ardbeg – BizzareBQ (70cl, 50.9%)

This is a limited Islay single malt from Ardbeg, in a 70cl bottle at 50.9% ABV. It was developed with barbecue cook Christian Stevenson, known as DJ BBQ, and refined by Dr Bill Lumsden. The whisky matured in double-charred oak casks, Pedro Ximenez sherry casks and specially devised BBQ casks. Tasting notes describe charcoal and soot on the nose with smoky wood, herbs, spices, molasses toffee, hickory-smoked ham and cinnamon-dusted espresso. On the palate there is lively spice, chilli-marinated spare ribs, deep warming smoke, leather and cloves, with ginger, aniseed and tar.
