Ardbeg Drum is a Committee Release from the Islay distillery, part of an annual series of limited bottlings. It was bottled in 2018 at a cask strength of 52% in a 70cl bottle, and pairs Ardbeg's maritime smoke with a rum cask finish.
The golden whisky opens with peat smoke, smoked meat, minerals and sea air, alongside vanilla, cream toffee, honey, ripe banana, pineapple, candied ginger and a touch of citrus. The palate is strong yet soft and oily, with peat smoke, iodine and minerals, brief sweetness, then clove and pepper. The finish is very long, with pepper, peat smoke and oak.
