Ardbeg Scorch is a limited edition Islay single malt created for Ardbeg Day on 5 June 2021. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV and takes its inspiration from the breath of a dragon.
Ardbeg filled its heavily peated malt into extra heavily charred ex-bourbon casks. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, and it is pale gold in the glass.
The nose has soot and smoke with aniseed, patchouli, hardened steel and saddle soap, and with a little water, sage, briar wood and pine appear. The palate is oily, with sweet smoke, charred oak, grilled notes, black liquorice and medicinal lozenges. A light, tarry finish lingers for a long time.
