Ardbeg – Spectacular Limited Edition (70cl, 46%)

This is a limited edition Islay single malt from Ardbeg, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and released for Ardbeg Day. It is the first Ardbeg edition to be matured in Port casks alongside classic ex-bourbon casks. Smoky pear crumble and cooling menthol run through it, with incense, lavender and old leather. The nose is described as lavender, vetiver and incense with leather, wax and almonds, and water brings out wood smoke, damp peat moss and menthol. The palate is salty and creamy, with eucalyptus oil, salted caramel toffee, smoked pecans, creosote and tar over a light sweetness of fudge. The finish is long, with leather, salted caramel and menthol.
