Ardbeg Still Young is an Islay single malt distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2006 at cask strength, without chill-filtration, at 56.2% ABV. It is the second release in the Peaty Path to Maturity series of very young Ardbeg malts, in a 70cl bottle.
The name refers to its age: it matured for just 8 years in selected bourbon casks. It was issued as a limited edition.
The nose is direct peat, young and maritime, with a little sewing-machine oil and citrus-leaning fruit. The palate is grassy and peaty, turning very sweet with vanilla and some pepper. The finish is peppery, sweet and peaty, ending slightly bitter over sweet undertones.
