Ardbeg – Uigeadail (70cl, 54.2%)

This is Ardbeg Uigeadail, an Islay single malt without an age statement, bottled at 54.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered. The name is Gaelic for a dark, mysterious place and comes from the loch that supplies the distillery's water. It is matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak and ex-Oloroso sherry casks, and the two are vatted together. The bourbon casks add deep smoky notes, while the sherry casks bring a rich, raisin-like character. The result is a mix of sweetness, spice and deep smokiness.
