Ardmore – 2009 Heavy Peat Single Malt Wilson & Morgan (46%)

This is a 2009 Heavy Peat Ardmore, a single malt bottled by Wilson & Morgan at 46%. It is a new release from the Highland distillery, sweeter and more malty beneath the intense smoke than earlier versions. Ex-bourbon casks bring vanilla to a smoky, creamy nose with honey, chamomile, beeswax and sweet liquorice. On the palate soot, tar and peat smoke come first, followed by a pine-wood bonfire and a balsamic freshness of mint, camphor and resin. The finish is delicately sour, with green banana and lemon zest, leaving the palate refreshed.
