This is a 25-year-old Highland single malt from Ardmore, bottled by Elixir Distillers at 48.6% in a 70cl bottle. It is named A Marriage of Casks.
The nose combines charcoal, campfire smoke and a little machine oil with jammy apricots, fresh lemon zest and a hint of iodine, with menthol, tobacco leaf, hessian and tinned peaches behind. The palate has a waxy texture with light dryness and ash, then liquorice root, charcoal, strong breakfast tea, pepper, medicinal notes, ripe banana and lemongrass.
The finish is of medium length, with beeswax, light herbal notes, salt, a trace of soot and a touch of citrus.
