Arran – 25 Year Old Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

This is a 25 year old single malt from the Isle of Arran Distillers, in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It marks a quarter of a century since production began in 1995, and the whisky matured in the distillery's first casks. It was aged in ex-sherry and bourbon casks and bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. The nose is rich oak with a soft touch of nutmeg, baked ripe figs, sultanas and black cherries. On the palate come fruit cake with toasted almonds and cinnamon, then orange and mandarin with manuka honey, muscovado sugar and baked apricots, plus white pepper. The finish is creamy and spicy, with dark chocolate, walnuts and a compote of dark fruit.
