Arran – Barrel Bonfire 11 Years (Signature Series, Edition 2) (70cl, 50%)

The second release in the Arran Signature Series, Barrel Bonfire is an 11-year-old peated single malt at 50% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. Stewart Bowman, Arran's distillery manager, chose the 42ppm malt himself. It spent its first five and a half years in ex-bourbon casks. In September 2018 it moved for a further five and a half years into 115-litre quarter casks from the Koval distillery in Chicago, which Arran rarely uses and which were used only for this edition. 14,822 bottles were released. The nose has caramel-coated hazelnuts, orange peel, vanilla and dry smoke. The palate is oily and spicy, with cinnamon and citrus, and the finish is long and sweet, with vanilla, peat and bonfire smoke.
