Arran Barrel Bonfire is a peated single malt from the Isle of Arran, bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is the second edition in a four-part Signature Series selected by Lochranza Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman.
The spirit is peated to 42ppm and was first filled into bourbon barrels in 2012. In 2018 a small parcel was moved into 115-litre quarter casks built for Koval and sourced from a Chicago cooperage, where it went on maturing.
The nose brings caramelised hazelnut, orange zest, plenty of vanilla and a dry, textured smoke. The palate is oily and mouth-watering, with cinnamon, warm citrus, creamy vanilla and bonfire smoke. The finish is long, sweet and peaty, with lingering vanilla and dry embers.
