Arran – Quarter Cask "The Bothy" (53.2%)

This is a cask strength Arran single malt bottled at 53.2% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colouring. The whisky spent 7 years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels before moving into 125 litre quarter casks of American oak for a further 2 years. The smaller casks bring the spirit into closer contact with the wood, for a faster and more intense maturation. The style recalls the small casks that were common on the island of Arran in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It is full-bodied, with rich vanilla sweetness and bold peppery spice. Expect apple tart and pineapple brioche on the nose, citrus and cinnamon on the palate, and a sweet finish of honey, pineapple, vanilla and coconut.
