Arran – Machrie Moor 10 Year Old

This is a ten year old single malt from Arran, from the island's peated Machrie Moor line. The name comes from a peat bog on the western side of the island. It spent its ten years maturing in first-fill bourbon casks. The peat adds a smoky edge to a spirit that is otherwise fruity and softly grassy. The nose is baked apples and pears with singed barley and a touch of peppery oak. On the palate come nutty barley, charred pineapple, Demerara sugar, cinnamon and drying smoke. The finish brings heather honey and flamed orange peel.
