Arran Port Cask Finish (70cl, 50%)

This is a single malt from Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and without added colour. After about eight years in traditional oak casks, the whisky continues maturing in casks from a Portuguese port producer. The distillery manages this last stage so that the port does not overpower the spirit. It belongs to Arran's range of wine finishes, which also includes Sauternes and Amarone. The nose combines vanilla spice, ripe citrus, dried fruit and nuts. On the palate, cinnamon sits alongside baked apple and a hint of strawberry jam. The finish is a sweet barley note.
