Arran Quarter Cask - The Bothy (70cl, 56.2%)

This is an Arran single malt, matured for seven years in ex-bourbon casks and then moved for two more years into quarter casks of 125 litres. The smaller casks bring the whisky into closer contact with the oak. It is bottled at cask strength, 56.2% ABV, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour, in a 70cl bottle. The bottling takes its inspiration from the whisky trade on the Isle of Arran in the 18th and 19th centuries, when small casks were easier to handle and carry. It is described as combining a strong vanilla sweetness with a firm peppery spice.
