Arran – Sauternes Cask Finish (50%)

The Arran Sauternes Cask Finish is an unpeated single malt from the Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran. It was among the first experimental wood finishes the distillery released, and it later joined the core range with a new bottle design introduced in 2020. The whisky spends roughly eight years in ex-bourbon oak before a finish in Sauternes casks from a producer in Bordeaux. It is bottled at 50%. The nose is sweet and fragrant, with acacia honey, honeysuckle, vanilla pastry and tinned pineapple. The palate is honeyed and lively, with vanilla, sultanas, marzipan and toasted oak. The finish is long and candied, with apricot and melon softened by ginger and white pepper.
