This is a 10 year old Auchroisk from Speyside, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Discovery range. It was matured in an ex-bourbon cask and is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The Discovery range gathers bottlings from around Scotland that show a distillery's classic style, and here that means Auchroisk's spicy profile.
The nose offers white pepper, chocolate-drizzled hazelnuts, vanilla, apple and poached pear. On the palate come honey, ripe banana and zesty orange, with apricot balanced by cracked black pepper. The medium-bodied finish carries tropical fruit and oak.
