A 16 year old Speyside single malt from Auchroisk, bottled by the SMWS as cask 95.100, Spice Surprise, at 57.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It began in two bourbon hogsheads. One cask moved at 13 years old to a Spanish oak oloroso hogshead, the other at 14 years old to a new oak hogshead of heavy toast and medium char, and the two were blended before bottling. The batch gave 494 bottles. Neat, the nose is described as fruit scone mix, vanilla essence, cherry blossom and white chocolate, with hazelnuts in browned butter, apple rings and Turkish delight once water is added. The palate has a prickle of chilli jam with orange zest and star anise, then butterscotch sauce, salted almonds and fig chutney when reduced.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
