Auchroisk – Quarter Cask, Murray McDavid (70cl, 44.5%)

This Auchroisk is a Speyside single malt selected and bottled by Murray McDavid, finished in quarter casks and bottled at 44.5% in a 70cl bottle. Auchroisk distillery was established in 1974. The whisky first matured in traditional casks and was then moved to quarter casks of about 125 litres for finishing, which increases the influence of the wood. The nose combines warm honey, light smoke and ripe orchard fruit with vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate there is caramel sweetness, cinnamon, nutmeg, dried fruit and a clear oak presence, and the finish is long, with gentle smoke, honey and oak.
