Aultmore – 12 Year Old 2009 Refill Bourbon Barrel Connoisseurs Choice (70cl, 57.9%)

This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Aultmore, distilled in 2009 and matured in a refill bourbon barrel. It is bottled at a cask strength of 57.9% in a 70cl bottle, and comes from cask 4678. It belongs to the Connoisseurs Choice range, which Gordon & MacPhail's George Urquhart created in 1968. The range is always non-chill-filtered. The colour is light gold. The nose has sweet pineapple, vanilla and green apple, joined by delicate jasmine. On the palate, pear, lime marmalade and vanilla custard lead to chilli spice and oak. The finish is peppery.
