Bacardí Reserva Ocho Rye Cask Finish is an aged rum and the second release in the brand's Cask Finish Series. Its base is Bacardí Reserva Ocho, a blend of rums aged 8 to 12 years in American oak barrels under the Caribbean sun in Puerto Rico. Select barrels are then finished for two months in Kentucky rye whiskey casks. The official tasting notes promise gingerbread, maple sugar sweetness and a hint of spiciness on the nose, with a sweet, smooth, velvety palate carrying smokiness, white pepper, subtle vanilla and caramelized brown sugar. The finish is expansive and well-rounded, with spicy warmth, lingering sweetness and oak notes, and some tasters detect a sherry-like quality. It is bottled at 45% ABV.
