This is the first release of Balblair Vintage 2005, a Highland single malt distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2015. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
Balblair presents each vintage as a single moment in time, chosen at the point the distillery judges it right.
The nose is full-bodied, with green apples, ground spices and honey, then oak, vanilla, leather, orange, cut flowers and a hint of smoke. The palate brings citrus orchard fruit, then toffee and vanilla sweetness. The finish is long and spicy.
