Balcones – Mirador Cask Strength Texas Single Malt (70cl, 53%)

Balcones Mirador is a Texas single malt bottled at cask strength, 53%, in a 70cl bottle. It is made up of whiskies from under 2 years to almost 5 years old, all matured in second fill barrels. Because the oak was already used, its influence is much softer than in some whiskies half the age. The nose moves from green pear, apple skin and flower stems to honeysuckle, honey, brown sugar and soft suede. On the palate come green tea, fennel and lemongrass, then apple pie with lemon curd. The finish is citrus-lifted and dries to sandalwood, marmalade and Earl Grey tea.
