Balcones Texas Single Malt Rum Cask Finish is a Texas single malt bottled at cask strength. After a few small batches of Balcones Texas Rum, the distillery refilled the same casks with its single malt, a pairing of two spirits it favours.
Single malt is the core of Balcones, and this release reflects its interest in rum as a classic American spirit.
Rock candy, spice cake and toasted oak lead the notes. The nose runs to caramelised sugar, cherry cola and banana bread, the palate is full-bodied with tropical fruit and molasses, and the finish is dry and long.
Tasting Notes
Caramelised sugar, cherry cola, banana bread, sassafras, pistachio, peanut brittle, apple skins, peach cobbler
Full-bodied, with tropical fruits, molasses, sweet black tea and gingerbread
Dry and long, with hints of prickly cinnamon, burnt sugar and heavy oak
