Balcones – Mirador Cask Strength Texas Single Malt (70cl, 53%)

Balcones Mirador is a Texas single malt at cask strength, bottled at 53% in a 70cl bottle. It is a second fill barrel malt, made up of whiskies from under two years old to almost five. Because all the maturation took place in used casks, the oak comes across softer than in some whiskies only half as old. The nose begins with green pear, apple skins and flower stems, moving to honeysuckle, honey, brown sugar and soft suede. On the palate come green tea, fennel and lemongrass, then apple pie with lemon curd. The finish lifts the sweetness with citrus and dries to sandalwood, marmalade and Earl Grey tea.
