Balcones – Texas 100 Proof Rye (70cl, 50%)

This is a Texas rye whisky from Balcones, bottled at 100 proof (50%) in a 70cl bottle. The mash bill is 100% rye. It starts with Elbon rye grown in Northwest Texas, together with crystal, chocolate and roasted rye, and the spirit is distilled in copper pot stills. The nose combines soft charred oak, black tea and cracked pepper, opening to fruit and chocolate-covered cherries. On the palate it is creamy, with buttery toffee building to peppery spice and hints of coffee and nuts.
