Ballantine's 17 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky from the Ballantine's brand, produced in Dumbarton, Scotland. The brand began with George Ballantine, who opened a wines and spirits business in Glasgow in 1865 and created his own blends.
In the glass it is described as feinty, with smoke, a touch of mochaccino, leather, Madeira and a little chocolate. The palate is balanced, with cut herbs, a defined vegetal character, fresh citrus and fudge. The finish has a touch of peat smoke, with fruit that becomes dry.
