This is a 15 year old peated single malt from Ballechin, bottled at 58.9% in a 70cl bottle. The batch was vatted from first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill Oloroso sherry butts, and it yielded 3,520 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and free of added colouring.
The nose combines sweet stewed fruit with vanilla sauce and heavy peat smoke, over a background of light oak spice. On the palate are crisp vanilla wafers, juicy dates wrapped in bacon, dark berries and unsweetened cocoa, with strong smoke throughout. The finish brings roasted black pepper, then vanilla and blackberries.
