This is a single cask Ballechin, distilled in 2014 and aged nine years in a first-fill bourbon barrel, cask 492. It is bottled at 58.4% in an edition of 225 bottles. Ballechin is the peated malt of a Highland distillery founded in 1825 and renovated in 2018, made to a phenol level of 50 ppm.
The nose has peat and smoked lard with candied pear and Mirabelle plum, later iris butter, violet, cardamom and clove. The palate brings herbaceous peat, camphor, chocolate and wildflowers. The finish is long, with creamy vanilla, hot ash, aniseed and menthol.
