A 12-year-old Balmenach Speyside single malt, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2014 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society from a single first-fill bourbon cask. It is one of 216 bottles, at 57.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Balmenach is described as a punchier spirit, an older cousin of Glen Grant from the same region.
This bottling is full of interesting, quite complex flavours that sit between fruity and floral, with a hint of fabric softener. An intensity of spice and oak rounds it off.
