Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood is a Speyside single malt, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in two types of wood: traditional bourbon casks, which soften the spirit and add delicate character, and sherry casks, which bring depth and fullness of flavour.
The final few months are spent in tuns, where the whiskies marry together.
The nose is sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry with honey and vanilla. The palate is smooth and mellow, with nutty sweetness, cinnamon spice and a measured layer of sherry. The finish is long and warming.
