A 12 year old Balvenie Doublewood from Speyside, in a 70cl bottle. It was bottled at some point between 2000 and 2005, at 40% ABV.
The whisky is matured first in refill American oak casks, then finished for a further nine months in first fill European oak Oloroso sherry butts. The Doublewood expression was launched in 1993.
The nose offers dark toffee, caramel, malt, raisins and cherries, with cinnamon and clove. On the palate come vanilla, toffee and cola bottles, with spice building slowly. The finish is a cocoa-rich chocolate pudding with clove and cinnamon.
