This is a 12 year old Balvenie single malt, released as part of the Balvenie Stories series, at 43% ABV.
It was matured in bourbon casks and then finished in deeply toasted virgin American oak.
The nose is rich and malty, with citrus at first, oranges and lime, then more vanilla and toasted oak. After a few minutes in the glass it turns spicier, with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. The palate is medium in body and creamy, lightly to moderately sweet, with toasted oak, caramel and green notes of ripe apple and tomato plant. The finish is of medium length, with vanilla, honey and milk chocolate.
