Balvenie Founder's Reserve is a 10 year old single malt, here in a one litre bottle at 43% ABV from the 2000s. It is a vatting of malts matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, created by master malt David Stewart. It was the go-to bottle of the Balvenie range for many years and was discontinued in 2009.
Golden amber in colour, it has a nose of marmalade, rosewater, honey and spice with a subtle smoky note. The palate is sweet and spicy, with lightly sherried peels and acacia honey. The finish is long and viscous, warm with spice and sweetness.
