This is a one-litre bottle of Balvenie Founder's Reserve 10 Year Old, bottled at 43% in the 2000s. It combines single malts matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, and was created by master malt David Stewart. The expression was discontinued in 2009.
Golden amber in colour, it is medium-bodied on the nose, with marmalade, rosewater, honey and spice, and a subtle smoky note. The palate is sweet and spicy, with lightly sherried peels and acacia honey. The finish is long and viscous, with plenty of spice and sweetness.
