A 12 year old single malt from Balvenie, in a 70cl bottle. Its name points to American oak, and the story behind it is about long-established techniques meeting fresh ideas.
The nose is malty, with sweet fudge, citrus and oak vanilla, and layers of ginger and cinnamon. On the palate come candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee and butterscotch, with blossom honey, melted brown sugar and oak spice towards the end. The finish is rich and malty, with gentle oak vanilla and a little spice.
