Balvenie – The Week of Peat 14 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 48%)

A 14 year old Balvenie single malt, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It began when distillery manager Ian Millar, keen to experiment after a trip to Islay, ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln. For one week each year, Balvenie distils a batch of peated malt. The result is a whisky with honey, vanilla and citrus and an extra layer of delicate smoke. The nose shows gentle sweet peat smoke, light floral notes and butterscotch honey. The palate is velvety and round, with peat smoke balancing citrus, oaky vanilla and blossom honey, and the finish is gently smoky with lingering creamy vanilla.
