A Barolo DOCG from Crissante Alessandria, from the La Morra area on the southern side of the hill. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo, Michet clone, from about 0.8 hectares of south-facing vineyard at 280-300 metres altitude, on soils of limestone and fine sand. The vines are of mixed age: about three quarters planted in 2014 and one quarter dating to 1950.
Vinification involves about four weeks of maceration in stainless steel tanks at 26-28 C, with pump-overs twice daily during fermentation. The wine ages for 18-24 months in 43-hectolitre unroasted Slovenian oak casks, is bottled between August of the third year after harvest, and completes a further 24 months of bottle ageing. On tasting it shows an intense garnet red colour, with aromas of ripe fruit, apricot, blackberry, vanilla and liquorice.
On the palate it is full, warm and balanced, supported by soft tannins.
