Barrell Seagrass Gray Label is a 16 year old rye whiskey, distilled in Canada from 100% rye and bottled at cask strength, 130.82 proof, in a 70cl... 75cl bottle. It was aged in the US and Canada, then crafted and bottled in Kentucky.
It began as two groups of 16 year old barrels. Portions were finished in apricot brandy casks, Martinique rhum barrels and Malmsey Madeira barrels, and each was pulled once its flavours peaked before being married into the final blend.
The nose is grassy, with fresh rhum agricole notes. The palate is oily rye with nutty madeira character and lively acidity. Apricot brandy adds bright, sometimes tropical fruit to the finish, which fades to a maritime minerality.
