Basil Hayden's Two by Two Rye Whiskey (75cl, 40%)

Basil Hayden's Two by Two Rye is a limited release from 2018, since discontinued, in a 750ml bottle at 80 proof (40%). It blends two Kentucky straight rye whiskies with two Kentucky straight bourbons, with rye making up the larger share. The blend is reported to combine a 5 year old rye, a 7 year old high rye, a 6 year old bourbon and a 13 year old bourbon. Golden honey amber in colour, it has a nose of rich caramel and brown sugar with soft rye and vanilla beneath. The palate is sweet rye and baked brown sugar over subtle aged wood, and the finish is long and warm with a gentle woody spice.
