A 27-year-old Speyside single malt from Benriach, taken from a single Oloroso sherry puncheon for the Cask Edition Collection. It was distilled on 18 July 1994, matured in cask 2059 and bottled in 2021, producing 659 numbered bottles. It formed part of the European selection of the 2022 collection, released in March 2022.
The whisky is lightly smoky, bottled at a cask strength of 53%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
On the nose there are smoked pine nuts, orange wine, crème caramel and maple syrup, with a dark chocolate fudge cake impression. The palate offers lime, dark chocolate and candied pear, then smoked walnut bread, liquorice and baked currants. The finish is sweet.
