This is a single cask BenRiach from Speyside, distilled on 7 July 1997 and matured for 25 years in a single virgin oak barrel. It was bottled in 2023 at a cask strength of 52.9% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
It comes from the Cask Edition series, hand-selected by Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie. Only 251 bottles were filled, each one hand-numbered. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and takes its colour naturally from the wood.
Virgin oak is an unusual choice for such a long maturation. BenRiach's thick, fruity distillate is said to draw richness from the barrel without being overwhelmed by it.
