A 40 year old single cask Benriach from Speyside, chosen by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection. The whisky was distilled in 1982 and matured in a single refill American hogshead until it was bottled from cask 5217 in 2022. The outturn was 69 bottles at a cask strength of 51.7%, non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring.
The nose combines fresh fruit and vanilla with a touch of honey, spice and fine oak. On the palate it is full and rounded, with dried fruit and chocolate, a hint of cinnamon and elegant oak spice. The finish is long, warm and gently sweet, with soft oak notes.
