This is a Benriach single malt, distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2024 at nine years old by Murray McDavid. It comes in a 70cl bottle at a cask strength of 53.2%.
The whisky spent time in oak casks before moving into Tokaji wine casks from Hungary for a finishing period. The aim was to let the sweet, honeyed character of the wine add depth without overwhelming the spirit.
The nose offers orchard fruits, honey, apricot jam and baking spices, with sweet wine and floral hints. On the palate come vanilla custard, baked apple, honeysuckle and candied ginger. The finish is long and warming, with spice, dried fruits and a vinous sweetness.
