BenRiach – Albariza 22 Year Old Peated PX Wood Finish (46%)

This is a 22 year old peated single malt from BenRiach in Speyside, finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. It is the second limited edition in a casks selection by Billy Walker, bottled at 46% without chill-filtering and with natural colour. The name Albariza comes from the white soil of Andalusia, made up of calcium, clay and marine fossils, in which Sherry grapes are grown. The Pedro Ximenez finish adds a rich, fruity sweetness to the distillery's robust style. The nose offers sweet cherries with leather and smoke. On the palate come sweet mirabelle plums, bell peppers, black cherries and ripe figs, with smoke, vanilla, peat and a little white pepper. The finish is long, with menthol, honey and dark chocolate.
