BenRiach – Peated Quarter Casks

This is a peated single malt from BenRiach, matured entirely in quarter casks. These smaller casks give the whisky more contact with the wood, so it takes on a dense, intense aroma in a shorter time. The nose opens with waves of wood smoke and burning heather, alongside ripe orchard fruit, peach, cinnamon sugar and a light herbal note of fresh barley that contrasts with the rich peat. On the palate, intense peat smoke meets green pears and nectarines, with nutty oak, vanilla pod, a touch of white pepper and lime.
